ANAEROBIC DIGESTION
Clenergen has acquired a 1.5MWe Anaerobic Digestive Biomass power plant near Salem, Tamilnadu which operates using chicken litter as a source of feedstock in order to generate renewable electricity. The company intends to expand the existing facility to 10 MWe within the next 15 months.
At a rate of 1.5MWe, the site generates 35 tonnes per day of organic chicken manure compost with a high Nitrogen content per day. At 10 MWe the total output is in excess of 225 tonnes per day. By processing this compost using various fertilization techniques, the fertilizer is suitable for supplying all Clenergen plantations. As a result, instead of incurring a cost of $800 per annum per acre, Clenergen will be able to supply fertilizer at processing cost plus shipping, this creating a significant reduction in the maintenance cost of the plantation.
Within a 35 KM range of the site, there are 250 chicken farms 60 tapioca processing plants and 2 large scale sugar mills. There is sufficient agri biomass waste generated per annum to support a 30MWe Power Plant. Clenergen intends to upgrade the facility to 10MWe over the next 18 months, using existing land and power evacuation infrastructure to support the expansion.
Full Scale Operations Commencing First Quarter 2010
